Meridian G01 Stereo Control Unit with Tuner
The Meridian G01 is a fully-integrated analogue control unit which includes a sensitive AM/FM RDS/RDBS tuner. It is an ideal complement for the G Series power amplifiers and is particu-larly suited to those who wish to maintain an analogue signal path at the very highest quality of reproduction.
Although Meridian is today best-known for its digital circuitry,
it is a company built on ana-logue roots, and indeed, superb analogue circuit design and implementation are important parts of all Meridian products, whether their inputs and outputs are analogue or digital. The G01 rests, therefore, on over a quarter of a century of Meridian’s experience in the design and manufacture of exquisite-sounding analogue hi-fi components and systems.
Including both a preamplifier and controller, the G01 stereo control unit provides no less than seven stereo analogue inputs plus an AM/FM tuner. The inputs are nominally designated Aux, CD, TV, Tape, Disc (turntable), DVD and VCR (though these designations can be changed). The disc input can be factory-configured for either moving coil or moving magnet cartridge operation: order the unit with the appropriate stereo input module.

Meridian G02 Balanced Dual Mono Pre-Amplifier
Meridian has a strong reputation for preamps, and the G02’s predecessor, the 502, was no exception. Building on the success of the 502, the Meridian G02 is a true dual-mono analogue control unit/preamplifier with an extremely high-quality power supply for ultra-low noise and distortion.
Featuring a fully-balanced signal path throughout, it is an ideal complement for the G Series power amplifiers and is particularly suited to those who wish to maintain a balanced, analogue signal path at the very highest quality of reproduction.

Balanced operation has always been preferred in the professional audio industry, as it can sig-nificantly reduce hum and noise and make the system immune to interference.
The G02 brings this philosophy to the G Series. Including both a preamplifier and controller, the G02 dual-mono control unit provides no less than seven two-channel analogue inputs. Four of these – nominally designated Aux, Radio, TV and VCR (though these designations can be changed) are unbalanced; while the remain-ing three CD, Tape and Disc offer balanced inputs on XLR connectors.

Meridian G08.2 24-bit Upsampling Compact Disc Player
The G08 24-bit Upsampling CD Player takes Compact Disc playback to an entirely new level. With a heritage that includes the multiple award winning 588 and 800 – and two dozen optical disc players from 1984 to the present day – the G08 is CD-optimised, and able to play virtually any CD, from conventional pressings to CD-R, CD-R/W and discs of MP3 files (64–256kbps). It also plays the CD side of DualDisc DVD/CD hybrids, and the CD layer of an SACD disc.
At the heart of the G08 are fully-integrated electronics and a computer-style CD/DVD-ROM drive. Although it normally runs at standard CD speed, the drive is capable of spinning the disc much faster, allowing multiple high-speed re-reads to ensure accurate recovery of data from even the most difficult disc. This feature alone provides ten times the error correction of a conventional CD player.
Once the digital data stream has been recovered from the disc, powerful on-board digital signal processing (DSP) with a capability of an impres-sive 150 MIPS (million instrcutions per second) up-samples the digital information from the 44.1 kHz, 16-bit signal of conventional CD to 24 bits, and to a sample rate of 176.4 kHz for digi-tal to analogue conversion to drive the analogue outputs, and 88.2 kHz for the digital outputs.

Meridian G51 Integrated AM/FM Stereo Receiver
The Meridian G51 is the first integrated receiver ever manufactured by the company, and forms a perfect complement to the rest of the G Series range with its super-high-quality reproduction of analogue signals. Although Meridian is today best-known for its digital circuitry, it is a compa-ny built on analogue roots, and indeed, superb analogue circuit design and implementation are important parts of all Meridian products.
Including a stereo preamplifier, controller and a power amplifier that features a unique low-feedback topology and extremely low output impedance, the G51 stereo receiver provides no less than seven stereo analogue inputs plus, of course, an AM/FM tuner with RDS/RDBS capabil-ity. The inputs are nominally designated Aux, CD, TV, Tape, Disc (Phono), DVD and VCR, but can be reconfigured. The G51 can be ordered with either moving coil or moving magnet stereo phono input modules.
Two sets of stereo tape outputs are provided, along with two preamp out pairs, one of which is normally jumpered to the adjacent power amplifier input sockets. These jumpers can be removed to connect an analogue surround de-coder, for example, while the additional preamp output allows for biamping with an additional 2-channel amplifier such as the G56.

In the case of the complete line of G Series amplifiers, pairs of channels can be bridged for additional output and flexibility, and the ampli-fiers are gain-matched to further add to the possibilities when building a system.
The Meridian G56 is a compact, 2-channel unit with dual-mono construction, delivering a solid 100W continuous mean power per channel into 8Ù and suitable for even the most difficult loads.

Special attention has been paid to ensuring that the amplifiers can deliver the power that’s required at any given moment. Massive twin low-noise toroidal power transformers provide power to no less than 25 selected pairs of output devices, carefully temperature-con-trolled for optimum operating characteristics and efficiency. The result is a clear, open sound with detail as well as punch where it’s required at any volume level from a string quartet at midnight to Metallica at high noon.
